In June 2010, the former Goathland Primary School, Longbenton and Glebe School, Whitley Bay, relocated to form a brand new integrated primary learning campus in Longbenton.

The schools have been renamed, with Glebe School becoming Benton Dene School and Goathland Primary School becoming Benton Dene Primary School.

The new Benton Dene Schools Campus is co-located on a site with Longbenton Community College on Hailsham Avenue in Longbenton.

Benton Dene_foyer.jpgElected Mayor of North Tyneside Linda Arkley said: "The completion of the new Benton Dene Schools Campus will ensure that the outstanding work of the two schools can continue in an inspiring new environment, as well as provide a wide range of community facilities within easy reach of local families."

The brand new Benton Dene Schools Campus offers a state-of-the-art and innovative approach to inclusive learning, and features specialist classrooms, sports and health areas, a nursery, and after-school and community facilities.

The campus will also be home to a dedicated centre for borough-wide language, communication and therapeutic services.

The development is part of North Tyneside Council's investment in primary education across the borough - the authority was nominated as a national pathfinder in 2007, to lead the way in a programme to ensure all its primary schools are fully equipped for 21st century learning.

As part of the major development project, the new Benton Dene Schools looked to implement a dedicated software-based visitor management system.

Julie Royle, Business Manager for the Benton Dene Schools commented:  “We required a system for providing a professional and efficient method of managing visitors.”

Julie continued, “VisitorNet helped enable us to efficiently fulfil the safeguarding requirements placed on us; by recording visitor data and producing visitor passes to enable us to identify visitors in the school. ”

Phil Muller, Sales Director for Kalamazoo Secure Solutions commented: “By ensuring identification passes are clearly visible at all times, pupils and staff can quickly and easily identify different types of visitors and query the visitors intention if required. The Benton Dene Schools now have all the tools required to ensure they provide a safe and secure environment for all pupils and staff.”
